With Sophrology you can develop a calm alert mind in a relaxed body and gain clarity and harmony
What is Sophrology?
Sophrology is a unique and structured self-development method that was created in the 60’s by neuro-psychiatrist Professor Alfonso Caycedo who came up with the term sophrology from Greek etymology.

“sos” – harmony
“phren” – consciousness
“logos” – study/science
The study/science of harmonious consciousness

Also known as “Dynamic Relaxation” Sophrology combines exercises drawn from Western relaxation techniques (autogenic training, hypnosis), scientific-based research (phenomenology, neurology) and inspired by Eastern philosophies (yoga, Tibetan Buddhist and Zen meditations); the method uses gentle movements, breathing exercises, guided meditation and positive visualisations.

Key principles of Sophrology

Body awareness
Reconnecting with your body as a whole (physical, mental, and emotional) through simple exercises and movements; developing awareness, listening to your body and therefore living more in the present.

Objective Reality
Learning to view people and situations and accepting them for what they are, without judgement and with a curious mind.

Positive action
Focusing your attention on positive thoughts, actions and feelings and creating a positive chain reaction through your whole being, therefore reinforcing the positive in you. By capitalising on your positive inner resources and capacities you develop harmony with yourself, your emotions, and your actions.

Adaptability
As a sophrologist I will always adapt to the physical, emotional, and mental needs of each client or group of clients. The exercises are adapted to each situation and physical condition, and they are safe.

Repetition
Practising the exercises on a regular basis is important to see the benefits and long-lasting positive effects of sophrology. Each session is a different experience that takes you one step closer to your true self.
